Did you answer “True” for four or more of the above statements?
If so, it is possible that you have a real problem with compulsive shopping.
Do you jokingly say that you have a shopping addiction? Perhaps you do.
If you think that there’s a chance you may be a shoppaholic,
then it is important to try to find ways to get your problems under control.
Here are some tips on how to prevent yourself from spending more money than
you should on things that you don’t need.
-Keep a Journal or Financial Book-
Write down when you shop, what you buy, and what your mood is at the time. Much like emotional eating, there are many people who shop when they are sad or angry. Make a budget and put on it. Give yourself some “mad money” for each month, and do not allow yourself to purchase anything that is not in the budget.
-Don’t Use Sales as an Excuse-
Some shopaholics use sales as an excuse to shop. If the only reason that you are shopping is because you will get a discount rate and not because you actually need the items, it is best to avoid shopping. Being more aware of your spending will also make your more in control.
-Get rid of ur Credit Cards, ATM Card, Checkbooks or etc-
Getting rid of these best friends may seem like the hardest thing that you will ever do, but it is necessary if your shopping problem causes you to go into a lot of debt .Use only cash.
-Pretending that U can't see Them-
If you spot something that you would like to purchase, never allow yourself to purchase it on the spot. Instead, walk away and give yourself a “mandatory waiting period” (or if you must-- ask the store to hold it for you. Most stores will hold items for their customers for at least a day). If you still want the item in a few days, then you can go back and make your thought-out purchase.
It’s true that shopping is a necessity, it’s something that absolutely everyone has to do at one point or another. And most people enjoy n even love it, but don’t go overboard ..=)
Compulsive spending isn’t a joke, it’s no laughing matter. For many people, it’s a fact – and it can make a person’s life miserable.
Could you be an actual SHOPPAHOLIC ?
GoodLuck all..^^
